Job Description
You will become part of the
IaaS team “Compute, Storage & Recovery” (CSR)
.
The team is responsible for providing a robust infrastructure for both DUO and OCW.
You will work on managing, maintaining and developing this infrastructure, with a focus on
Backup & Recovery and Storage
.
The Backup & Recovery and Storage services are mainly part of a
VMware-based hypervisor infrastructure
that provides service to at least
3,000 VMs
.
DUO has also outsourced the backup environment through a
“Backup-as-a-Service” (BaaS)
, where DUO is still responsible for part of the daily management tasks and (technical) management.
For the BaaS service, the supplier uses
Commvault
.
Examples of current activities are:
- Tenant-admin management of the BaaS platform
- Communication with the BaaS administrators at the supplier
- Consulting with the organization regarding backup & recovery needs
As the person responsible for the
storage service
, you will maintain, manage and further develop it.
You will also serve as a point of contact for storage-related requests, as well as more complex issues.
You are expected to be able to talk to the organization to advise them.
Examples of current activities are:
- Functional management of the fiber-channel network (Cisco MDS)
- Technical & Functional management of ONTAP (NetApp)
- Technical & Functional management of the DUO Storage platform (IBM SVC and IBM FlashSystem)
- Support SAN capacity planning, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

- As an implementing organisation, being part of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, DUO takes care of the implementation of complex laws and regulations and has an extensive range of services.

- System administration (HBO work and thinking level)
Experience
- HBO/WO thinking and working level (5 years)
- Proven experience with enterprise Back & Restore solutions in combination with VMware vSphere (5 years)
- Proven experience with FiberChannel-based enterprise storage solutions in combination with VMware vSphere (5 years)
- Demonstrated experience in environments based on VMware vSphere with at least 2000 VMs (3 years)
