To continue our expansion, we’re adding a strong intermediate to senior level Java Developer to our Maccs engineering team in Groningen. The role requires regular weekly attendance in our Groningen office.
You’ll be actively involved in all aspects of development; from design, programming, testing, documentation, implementation, and support. Work together with a team of enthusiastic colleagues who have recently launched an exciting new web application that will be used worldwide. Participate in team meetings, and together ensure we have satisfied customers across the globe, so you may sometimes need to be reachable in the evening or early in the morning.

Maccs provides services and develops software for film distribution, such as data systems for bookings and distribution and settlement of film licenses worldwide. Used by over 90 distributors to distribute films in over 50 territories around the world, our clients range from small, independent distributors to major global studios. Several large international film companies, such as Warner Bros, Paramount Pictures, Universal and Pathé are among our clientele.
Maccs started in 1995 with a vision to redefine film distribution for the global motion picture industry. The result was ground-breaking technology and we’ve been innovating and growing ever since. Part of Vista Group (New Zealand), Maccs today employs more than 50 people in its Groningen HQ, and satellite offices in Los Angeles, London and Melbourne.
About you
- Extensive, proven experience building web/cloud solutions and with Continuous Integration and Delivery
- Strong knowledge of Java, Spring boot, Angular, Bootstrap CSS, Typescript and MySQL
- Experience with AWS is preferred
- You’ll enjoy designing complex systems, taking into account existing architecture and standards
- Able to creatively think about new solutions and functionalities
- A degree in software engineering with at least 5 years’ experience as a Java Developer
- An excellent communicator with a healthy degree of enthusiasm and ambition
