Quality Manager
Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands
About the Role
Our client is a leading specialist in the delivery of large-scale mission-critical infrastructure projects across Europe. Due to continued growth and the award of a major hyperscale data centre development in Amsterdam, Netherlands, they are seeking an experienced Quality Manager to lead all quality assurance and quality control activities across a flagship mission-critical project.
This is a senior leadership position responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the project's Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring that all construction activities are delivered in accordance with client specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. Working closely with project leadership, engineering, construction, commissioning, and client teams, you will drive a culture of quality and continuous improvement throughout the project lifecycle.
Reporting to the Project Director, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that every stage of the project is delivered to the highest standards, supporting the successful handover of one of Europe's most significant hyperscale data centre developments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation and management of the project's Quality Management System (QMS) across all construction disciplines.
- Develop and maintain the Project Quality Plan, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), and quality procedures in line with client and company requirements.
- Manage all Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) activities throughout the construction lifecycle.
- Lead and mentor a team of Quality Engineers and Quality Inspectors, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Ensure all construction works comply with project specifications, contractual requirements, industry standards, and applicable regulations.
- Coordinate inspections, testing, and verification activities with construction, engineering, commissioning, and client teams.
- Monitor quality performance through audits, inspections, KPIs, and reporting, implementing corrective and preventive actions where necessary.
- Lead internal and external quality audits, ensuring timely close-out of findings and non-conformances.
- Manage non-conformance reports (NCRs), corrective action requests (CARs), and root cause investigations.
- Oversee document control related to quality records, test documentation, inspection reports, and handover packages.
- Work closely with commissioning teams to ensure quality documentation supports successful system turnover and client acceptance.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and regulatory bodies.
- Promote best practice, lessons learned, and continuous improvement initiatives across the project.
- Support project handover by ensuring all quality documentation is complete, accurate, and submitted in accordance with client requirements.
Requirements
- Degree qualified in Engineering, Construction Management, Quality Management, or a related discipline.
- 8+ years' experience in Quality Management within large-scale construction or mission-critical projects.
- Proven experience as a Quality Manager, QA/QC Manager, or Senior Quality Engineer on major construction projects.
- Previous experience delivering data centre, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, industrial, energy, or other mission-critical facilities is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems and quality assurance best practices.
- Experience developing and managing Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), quality procedures, and project quality documentation.
- Strong understanding of construction quality processes across civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, and electrical disciplines.
- Experience managing audits, NCRs, corrective actions, and continuous improvement programmes.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to build strong client relationships.
- Strong leadership and people management experience, with the ability to develop high-performing quality teams.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and construction standards.
- Experience with digital quality management systems and document control platforms is advantageous.
- A proactive approach with exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to delivering right-first-time quality.
